Partners for the Amazon

Partners for the Amazon – German–Brazilian Risk and Innovation Forum

This focused forum is organised by the Amazon Programme Global Network of Companies, an initiative of the German-Brazilian Science and Technology Network (GERBRAS-SCIENCENET) and the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg).

The organisation is designed particularly for German companies operating in Brazil or sourcing products and raw materials from the country. It will examine how regulatory developments, environmental risks and changing supply-chain expectations can be addressed through scientific cooperation, local knowledge and practical innovation.

Why should you and your company enjoy the Forum?

German companies with operations, suppliers or investments in Brazil face an increasingly complex environment involving deforestation risks, biodiversity protection, supply-chain due diligence, traceability, climate resilience and sustainability reporting. The forum will help participating companies to:

• Better understand emerging environmental, regulatory and supply-chain risks affecting German–Brazilian business activities;
• Discuss the implications of European and German sustainability and supply-chain requirements for companies operating in or sourcing from Brazil;
• Access scientific expertise and local knowledge through universities and research institutions across Brazil;
• Explore research partnerships, local projects and events with universities and regional organisations in the Amazon;
• Identify opportunities to improve traceability, responsible sourcing and supply-chain transparency;
• Develop practical, evidence-based responses to compliance and sustainability challenges;
• Connect with researchers, sustainability initiatives, local organisations and communities in the Amazon region;
• Explore joint projects, international funding opportunities and cross-sector partnerships;
• Strengthen sustainability reporting through credible research, measurable outcomes and locally grounded evidence;
• Transform regulatory and sustainability challenges into opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage;
• Present specific corporate challenges and explore potential solutions with relevant scientific and regional partners;
• Access to universities and scientific expertise throughout Brazil.
